Best brunches in Finsbury Park and Stroud Green
Insider guide exclusively created for guests at Green Rooms art hotel in Wood Green by London local Esme Verity
Londoners love nothing more than to brunch. In this guide, Esme shares the best places for a good brunch in the North London neighbourhood of Finsbury Park, from a full English breakfast to deliciously cheesy sourdough toasties and indulgent fluffy pancakes.
Brunch at the original Blighty Café is hard to beat. Founder Chris serves the classic English Breakfast, but with a twist, proudly offering locally sourced eggs cooked in the Lincolnshire, Shropshire or Wiltshire style. Choose between their impressive range of British themed coffees including the Oranciois (Terry’s chocolate orange in a cup) or the Winston latte (a latte with a shot of baileys) to wash it all down.
Insider tip: Why not try their Tottenham based second venue, Blighty India Café for an extra dollop of fun.
The Front Room Café
Tucked away behind busy Stroud Green Road, The Front Room Café is one of Finsbury Parks best kept secrets. Loved by locals, the brunch menu includes indulgent slabs of toasted sourdough topped with scrambled eggs, eggs benedict with their special home made hollandaise sauce and fluffy pancakes for those seeking something sweeter. What’s extra special about this community café is the neighbourhood artwork that adorns the walls.
The Deli at 80
You’d be hard pressed to find a more charming café then the Deli at 80. They serve a rather indulgent yet reasonably healthy lunchtime menu spanning delicious porridge topped with fresh bananas to a classic cheese board. This Deli, as you may have already guessed by its name also serves as a deli, where you can find locally sourced produce from honey to British made cheese.
Insider tip: The Deli holds regular events in the evening, to be enjoyed with a glass of wine in hand.
New to the neighbourhood, Common Ground is an undiscovered gem in the middle of this crowded city. The brunch menu alone makes it worth a visit with highlights including sourdough toasties and a fresh fruit salad with toasted coconut. All this served alongside truly great coffee or a glass of the freshest orange juice in town.
