This places is always busy, whether you’re grabbing a coffee in the morning or catching up on emails in the afternoon. The coffee is from local roasters Volcano Coffee Works and the cakes and small bites are lovely.

Recently opened in a redeveloped building, Canova Hall marks the firm regeneration of Brixton as a hub for creatives and small businesses. The large multipurpose space offers food, drinks and hot desking with bottomless coffee included. Open all day, so you start your day here with breakfast and wi-fi, pop in for lunch or get drinks in the evening. What more could you want?

All the colourful and creative gifts you could want – here you’ll find jewellery by independent designers, as well as homewares and accessorises with London-inspired prints. They even run creative workshops, ranging from how to make your own own silver ring to life drawing classes.

POP was set up by the local authority, as a project to support small businesses in Brixton and Lambeth. Come and try all the food and drink on offer, plus a few retails spots. There’s also a range of community and arts projects, including initiatives with local schools and youth clubs.
