The Holland Park branch of Daunt books has an irresistible warmth and coziness to it. As with the original Marylebone shop, there is a fantastic selection of travel writing, as well as international fiction and history.

Just next to South Kensington tube station, this bookshop is a must-visit before or after a day in the museum district. There is year-round remainder stock sold at 50% off list price, as well as new titles sold at a smaller discount. It specialises in visual arts, architecture, and photography, and also has a large history section.

Self-claimed oldest independent bookshop in South West London, this shop has secondhand books stacked from floor to ceiling. Be prepared to have a rummage to uncover hidden literary delights, and ask the owner Ray if you cannot find anything, as they have a million books in storage near-by.
